Congratulations to Sam Woodfield his Win and for achieving his Cat 1 last weekend.
Sam has gone from Cat 3 to Cat 1 in just one race season!
Sam started coaching with us just 2 years ago as a Cat 4 working hard and following a plan he has come a long way.
Wishing Sam all the best for his Cycling in 2018 and onwards.
A report from VeloUK of the race as it unfolded.
Finsbury Park Cycling Club Road Race, Rickling, Cat 234, October 8
A windless day made for fast speeds as riders were regularly shelled from the back. With three laps to go Oliver Cliff (TBW Bottecchia Wigmore RT) and Samuel Woodfield (Peterborough Cycling Club) escaped from the bunch.
The pair worked well together holding a narrow lead which never got above 30s as the bunch kept them in sight. On the last lap, Cliff cracked and was passed by the bunch, while Woodfield maintained his lead to win solo by 18s. Toby Parnell (Cambridge CC) lead the bunch sprint for 2nd with Martin Galpin (Ickenield Raod Club) 3rd
